Golf: Best Sports Bet of the Week

The U.S. PGA Championship starts tomorrow night (Australian time) and is an event that provides punters with the best bet of the week in my view.

Jason Day has been in great form this year and is a proven Major performer. He is definitely due a win in a Major but if he doesn’t win he has strong form for placing in the Top 5.  Indeed in his last 11 Major starts he has four top 5 finishes.

He is presently paying $3.20 to finish in the top 5 in UBet which to me is excellent value.

Bet: Jason Day to finish in the Top 5 of the PGA Championship.

Super Bowl Sunday (or Monday): Best Bet

One of the biggest days of the sporting calendar is upon us. Today the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

I have to say that I am NY Jets fan and it has been a sad season for us. The only silver lining to that fact (and the fact that the Jets have been out of the season for some time) is that I have been able to take a close look at the final series this year more than most years.

I am very keen on the Seattle Seahawks in this fixture. I know the Patriots have Brady but I sense they have been distracted this fortnight with all that has gone on in “Deflategate”.

The Seahawks have had a near perfect preparation and are the defending champions. They are the unquestioned best defensive unit in the NFL.

Defence wins big matches like this and if the Seahawks defence get to Brady I can’t see the Patriots having a plan B to turn to.

To me, therefore, the best bet is the Seahawks to win this one straight out. I will be taken the $2 on offer for this result.

The other bet type of interest for me is the total game score. Last year I took the “under” mark and lost after Seahawks ran away with the game. Both of these teams can score points and that has been leaning towards the “over” bet with the median line 47.5 points.

Enjoy Super Bowl Sunday (or Monday) wherever you are watching. If you are having a bet: good luck!!!

Shumpty’s Punt: Zurich Classic of New Orleans (Golf)

Golf from the US this weekend comes from New Orleans with it hosting the Zurich Classic from TPC Louisiana.  It is a reduced field this week.  John Senden, the Australian who was our best finisher in the US Masters, returns after a week off.  He has the game to challange here and, as his result in the US Masters showed, is in great form.  At $41 to win the tournament and around $7 to finish in the top 5 he is my tip for this weekend’s tournament.

Tip: John Senden to finish top 5

Shumpty’s Punt: Monday Multi

It has been a while since I posted a multi bet. The fact is that I have been very busy with work and I have not had the chance to analyse the odds and the games like I would like. Sitting in a hotel room last night I had the chance to have a look at the upcoming sport and here is a multi that I am feeling very confident about:

Leg 1: Washington Capitals to defeat the Nashville Predators in the NHL.

Leg 2: New York Rangers to cover the line (-1.5 goals) against the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL.

Leg 3: Portland Trailblazers to cover the line (-1.5 points) against the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA.

This multi will pay around $10 for every dollar invested.

2. Whilst all care is taken with this tip, no responsibility for losses is taken.
