Shumpty’s Punt: Friday Fun Multi

It is Friday and that means it is Fun Multi day. Yet again we are focused on basketball (can the Olympics be over already?) and, in a short day of games are only looking at 3 legs.

Leg 1: Total game score under 120 points in the Michigan State v Northwestern NCAA Basketball game.

Leg 2: Chicago Bulls to cover the line (-3.5 points) against the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA.

Leg 3: Oklahoma City Thunder to cover the line (-10.5 points) against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA.

This multi should pay a shade under $7 for every dollar invested.

As always: good luck and good punting.

Shumpty’s Punt: Wednesday Wager

With the Winter Olympics on in Sochi we are not really spoilt for choice when it comes to US sport at the moment. This week’s Wednesday Wager is all about the NBA and will pay just over $20 for every dollar invested.

Leg 1: Cleveland Cavaliers to defeat the Sacramento Kings.

Leg 2: Dallas Mavericks to cover the line (-3.5 points) against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Leg 3: Chicago Bulls to defeat the Atlanta Hawks by between 1 – 10 points.

Leg 4: Miami Heat to cover the line (-3.5 points) against the Phoenix Suns.

Another bet that might be worth having today, indeed probably the best bet of the day, is to wager that Kevin Durant will be the highest points scorer from today’s games.

As always, good luck and good punting. Please gamble responsibly.

Shumpty’s Punt: Friday Best Bet

The San Antonio Spurs come off their double overtime win against the Washington Wizards with a game against the injury beset Brooklyn Nets.  The Spurs are not without their injury problems with “big guns” Parker and Duncan not playing this game.

The Spurs lead the Southwest Division and have won 21 of the last 22 games between these two teams. I simply can not believe the odds that have been posted for the Spurs in this game: $2.95 for the win and gaining the benefit of a line of +6 points.

Conversely, the Nets have again this season failed to reached the potential that they patently have based on their list.  They do have some players returning from injury in this fixture but still have a large question mark over their form against teams in the top echolon of the competition.

I am going to stick with the Spurs for the second day in the row here and, again, do not believe that this will be a blow out.

Best Bet: San Antonio Spurs to defeat the Brooklyn Nets by less than 10.5 points in the NBL.

Payout: $4.35 (per sportingbet.com.au)

As always: good luck and good punting.

Shumpty’s Punt: Thursday Best Bet

Today’s best bet again comes from the NBA.  I am a massive fan of the Washington Wizards and am rapt that they are over .500 at the moment.  Unfortunately, I just don’t think they will win today against the San Antonio Spurs.  It will be a close game and thus, whilst I am expecting the Spurs to win I do not think this will be a blow out.

Best Bet: San Antonio Spurs to defeat the Washington Wizards by a margin of less than 10.5 points.

Payout: $2.75

As always, good luck and good punting.

Shumpty’s Punt: Wednesday Best Bet

Today’s best best comes from the NBA: I tipped the Indiana Pacers to win the NBA title and I think thhey will continue their charge for the title against the Atlanta Hawks today.  I do think though this will be not be a game where the Pacers run up the score here so am tipping a close win for them.

Best Bet: Indiana Pacers to defeat the Atlanta Hawks by less than 10.5 points in the NBA.

Payout: $2.75 (per sportingbet.com.au)

Disclaimer: I take all care with the tips and bets I post on this blog but, for the record, I take no responsibility for losses that might arise (just to be clear).

As always, good luck and good punting!

Shumpty’s Punt: Super Bowl Special

The Super Bowl kicks off at 9am Brisbane time on Monday morning.  I have really enjoyed the season of the NFL, the New York Jets form notwithstanding, and now we are at the pointy end it comes down to the two best sides in the competition battling it out for the spoils of the Super Bowl.  One team, the Seattle Seahawks, is the best defensive team in the NFL and the other team, the Denver Broncos, is the best offensive team in the NFL. All of which will make for a very interesting finale to the 2013/14 season.

I have been impressed with the play of the Seattle Seahawks all season and I see no reason to doubt they will defy the current odds, and the weight of sentiment support chafing for a Manning led Denver Bronco victory.  I am tipping the Seahawks to win. To be on the safe side though, I will be taking the 1.5 line available.

This encounter though is unlikely to a free flowing and high scoring affair given the likely weather conditions and the fact that the Seahawks have proven themselves to be absolute masters of shutting down an opposition and that being the case I do not expect the teams to get anywhere the “above / below” points line which is currently set at 47.5 points.

That being the case, my Super Bowl best bet is a double of these two suggested bets as follows :

Seattle Seahawks to cover the line (+1.5 points) into a total points score of less than 47.5 points.

On sportingbet.com.au this double is paying $3.60.

This will be a fascinating battle.  If you are having a bet: good luck! If not: sit back and enjoy one of the great days in the annual sporting calendar.
