Caulfield Cup Day: Best Bets

Here are my tips for today’s racing:

Caulfield Cup:

Every thing seems to point to the favourite, Lucia Valentina, winning this race particularly over a good win in the Turnbull.  I am going to take on the favourite here and tip Lidari (Number 14) to win.  Here’s why:

  • Strong form over the distance when still racing in France.
  • Turnbull run was just fantastic given the amount of work the horse had to do and was only half a length away from besting Lucia Valentina there.
  • Has picked up an inside gate in this race and will be able to settle towards the front half of the field.
  • Meets Lucia Valentina 1.5kgs better from the Turnbull.

At $9 fixed price Lidari is the winner for me.

Value punters should also have a look at Stipulate (Number 13) which at $21 presents great each way value given his barrier draw and with not much weight on.

Best Bet: Lidari

Value Bet: Stipulate

Other Races

Caulfield: Race 1 Number 2 Azkadella

Randwick: Race 3 Number 3 Hero I Am

Doomben: Race 8 Number 5 I’m Usian

Good luck and good punting.

The Epsom and Turnbull Stakes Day: Best Bets

Spring Carnival racing kicks off today with Turnbull Stakes day at Flemington and the Epsom at Randwick.  There are some great races on today however I am limiting my investments to the two big races.

Turnbull Stakes: I am going for some value (I concede $6 is not great value for some but it is for me!) in this race and I think there is no better value today than Happy Trails (No 2) in a race this horse won last year.  Despite carrying weight I think this race sets up well with the distance and track suiting.

The Epsom: Can not go past Royal Descent (No 2) in this race.  Has been runner up in all three starts this preparation.  Has the right trainer (Waller) and the right jockey (Bowman) and should be perfect prepared for this race.

Good luck if you are having a punt today.  As always:

The Wednesday Wager: Major League Baseball

We are in the last week of Major League Baseball regular play and the post season line ups are taking shape.  There are some excellent games on today and I think there is some value to be had for punters.  Here is a four leg multi arising from today’s fixtures:

Leg 1: Kansas City Royals to defeat the Cleveland Indians.

Leg 2: Washington Nationals to cover the line (-1.5 runs) against the New York Mets.

Leg 3: Cincinnati Reds to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers.

Leg 4: Detroit Tigers to cover the line (-1.5 runs) against the Chicago White Sox.

This multi will pay just a touch over $14 for every dollar invested.

As always: please gamble responsibly.

The Weekend Multi

It would be fair to say that I have been in barren form with getting a multi up on the weekend of late. Nonetheless, I have had a look at the form across a multitude of sports and have come up with this multi:

Leg 1: Sydney Swans to defeat the North Melbourne Kangaroos in the AFL.

Leg 2: Hawthorn Hawks to defeat Port Adelaide in the AFL.

Leg 3: Arsenal to defeat Aston Villa in the EPL.

Leg 4: Liverpool to defeat West Ham in the EPL.

Leg 5: Manchester United to defeat Leicester in the EPL.

Leg 6: Detroit Lions to cover the line (-2.5 points) against the Green Bay Packers in the NFL.

Leg 7: Baltimore Ravens to cover the line (-1.5 points) against the Cleveland Browns in the NFL.

Leg 8: Seattle Seahawks to cover the line (-5.0 points) against the Denver Broncos in the NFL.

This multi will pay almost $60 per dollar invested.
