Shumpty’s Punt: Doomben Best Bets

Racing in Brisbane today returns to Doomben and with the sun shining there will be good track. Here are my two standouts from today’s program:

Race 2: Number 2 Hi Son

Race 5: Number 1 Aimee

There does look like some value around in the other races but I am not super keen to invest heavily today and for me these two look like that have the hoof on the till.

Shumpty’s Punt: Bet of the Day

It feels like there are wet tracks everywhere today in Australia. That will necessary limit my involvement in horse racing betting today.

That said, I have had a close look at the feature race from Randwick today, the Group 2 Warwick Stakes.

Given the track conditions I can not go past the Chris Waller trained mud lark Weary. To me this race, on a heavy track is made for this horse.

Best Bet: Sydney, Race 6, Number 8, Weary

This bet will be me only investment today.

Friday Fun Tip: Ipswich Racing

Happy Friday Punters! And it being Friday, that means there is racing on at my “home” track, Bundamba (Ipswich).

I always look for the quality jockeys who have made the trip west to Ipswich from the city when I look for winners at Ipswich and there is no better up here than J Byrne.

I like Byrne’s mount in the second, Hi Mackay. Ignore its last start where it had a trouble passage from the gates and the horses form looks cherry ripe here.

Best Bet: Ipswich, Race 2, Number 3 Hi Mackay

Saturday Specials: no bets today

I ran my eye over the form guide last night and was left more than a bit uninspired by what I saw so today is a no bet day for me.
